Repkong (Tongren) is known as the ‘Homeland of Thangka’. During this festival, we are going to witness stunning Tibetan art performances in the village of Wutun, and some other religious performances. Please note due to the tradition of Bon, there are two monasteries in Wutun that forbid female visitors entering.
Day 1 & 2 Arrive in Xining by flight, visit the city of Xining, and its surrounding of Kumbum monastery and Drotsang Gonpa in Ledu county
Day 3 & 4 & 5 Xining to Tongren to Xining: Drive to Tongren, During our stay in Tongren, we will pay a visit to Rongpo Gonchen monastery, the principal monastery of Tongren, it was originally constructed in 1301 by the Sakyapa master Sangda Rinchen, later it was re-constituted as a Gelukpa monastery by Shar Kalden Gyatso during the 16th century, it is currently has 9 temples and housed 400 monks. And to enjoy the festival of local nomads, which attracts people from all over Amdo and some other parts of the eastern Tibet.
Day 6 Xining deprture, we will trnsfer you to train station or airport for your departure
