The Repkong Festival (FA02)

Repkong (Tongren) is known as the ‘Homeland of Thangka’. During this festival, we are going to witness stunning Tibetan art performances in the village of Wutun, and some other religious performances. Please note due to the tradition of Bon, there are two monasteries in Wutun that forbid female visitors entering.

B: Summer time: June 17th – 25th of Chinese Lunar Calendar

Itinerary


Day 1 Arrive in Chengdu: After arrival in Chengdu airport, pickup and transfer to your hotel, assist to check in. Relax in the rest hours of this day by having visit to the traditional Chinese teahouse at People’s park.

Day 2 & 3 Chengdu to Xining then onwarding to Ledu: By flight to Xining, then drive to visit the interesting places nearby. During this two days in Xining, we will visit to Kumbum monastery in Gyantse Town, and Drotsang Gonpa in Ledu

Day 4 & 5 & 6 Xining to Tongren to Xining: Drive to Tongren, During our stay in Tongren, we will pay a visit to Rongpo Gonchen monastery, the principal monastery of Tongren, it was originally constructed in 1301 by the Sakyapa master Sangda Rinchen, later it was re-constituted as a Gelukpa monastery by Shar Kalden Gyatso during the 16th century, it is currently has 9 temples and housed 400 monks. And to enjoy the festival of local nomads, which attracts people from all over Amdo and some other parts of the eastern Tibet.

Day 7 Xining to Chengdu: By flight from Xining to Chengdu, after arrive in Chengdu, drive to visit to Chengdu Giant Panda Bredding Base, one of the most important centers in the world for the conservation of the Giant Panda.

Day 8 Chengdu to the airport for departure.
