Gyirong valley is located in Gyirong County neighboring with Nepal; Gyirong is also used as “Kyirong” or “Ji Long Xian” in chinese. It is about 93 km long, and is thought to be the deepest of the Five Valleys in the mid-Himalayas
It is about 500 kilometers From Shigartse to Gyirong county. A twelve hours drive winding up in the mountain trails is needed; there are five mountain passes all with altitude over 5000 meters along the drive. The “Heart area” of Gyirong valley is about 70 kilometers south of Zongga.
Gyirong valley is also thought to be “the gene pool with abundant Species ”
