Kham Attraction Guide is a section to list monasteries and view spots of Kham which was consists of the western Sichuan Province, and Northwest of Yunnan province (currently, the Shangri-La city and Deqin county).
Nowadays, Kham refers only the west Sichuan pronvince which also called Garze (Kanze) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture . This region is thought to be the “off-beaten” region due to its harsh road condition, and ‘wild’ living custom of local Kangpa people;
Altitude from 2500 meters up to 7860 meters; Mountains, valleys, rivers, jungles all together make Kham distinct from the central Tibet and Amdo; even the life custom is slightly different from other tibetan areas in Tibet and Amdo; There are orginal Tibetan Bon religion monastery, architectures that mixed with chinese and tibetan style, some of local tibetan tribes are still maintained their original life habit
However, benefited by the rapidly developed tourism, the roads to and in this plateau have been well built, high standard hotels are being built. More and more people get onto this part of Tibetan plateau to enjoy its nature view, understand local life, study the once hidden buddhism monasteries; In addition, this vast plateau is also wonderful land for outdoor activities, especially for trekking, hikking, camping, mountain climbing; cliff climbing and rafting may possibly become the next booming;
