Lhasa to Kathmandu Overland Journey

Embark on an extraordinary 9-day journey across the Himalayas. Travel from Tibet’s mystical capital to Nepal’s bustling heart via the epic Friendship Highway. Witness the grandeur of Everest, explore ancient monasteries, and experience the timeless traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

⚠️ Important Note:

  1. Since 2019, access to the actual Everest Base Camp (EBC) is restricted to mountaineers with a climbing permit. Tourists are allowed up to the Rongbuk Monastery area, which also offers excellent views of the mountain.
  2. Minimum booking confirmation required: 30 days prior to departure in order to process the Tibet Travel Permit.

Warm welcome at Lhasa Airport. Visit Nie-Tang Buddha on the way to hotel. Acclimatization walk around Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama.

Day 3: Monastery Tour – Sera, Drepung & Nechung

Frequently Asked Questions

What documents do I need for this tour?

You will need a valid Chinese visa and a Tibet Travel Permit, which we will arrange for you, and You need to provide your passport copy for applying these travel documents. The permit process requires a minimum of 30 days before departure.

Can I visit Everest Base Camp?

No, the Everest Base Camp is only accessible to mountaineers with climbing permits. However, the Rongbuk Monastery area offers the best views for travelers.

How can I travel from Gyirong to Kathmandu?

Is altitude sickness a concern?
