Preciously, Lhasa Kathmandu Overland Trip start from Lhasa, and ends at Zhangmu County. Ever Since the earthquake happened in 2018, Zhangmu has been closed for rebuilding. Thus, Gyirong county, which is 240 kilometers northwesr from Zhangmu, becomes the new port for entering Tibet or Nepal. Now the tour ends at Gyirong county, the last town of Tibet before entering Nepal.
During this 9 days trip, we will not only visit to the religious site of Gelug Pa, and Sakya pa, we will also visit to the highest mountain on this planet – the Mt Everest. You can choose to start this trip from Lhasa, or You can choose to begin this journey from Kathmandu

D1 Arrive in Lhasa
Arrive in Lhasa airport, meet your guide, and then drive to your hotel. En route, we’ll visit to Nie-Tang Buddha, a Buddha image engraved in the face of the mountain. In the afternoon we’ll take a walk to Norbulingka, the former summer palace of Dalai Lama.

D2 Lhasa tour
We’ll visit Potala Palace, Jokhang temple and Barkhor Street.
Potala Palace , the winter palace of the Dalai Lama dominates the skyline of Lhassa atop the crest of Marpo Ri hill, the seventh-century Potala is considered Lhasa’s holiest destination for a pilgrimage. Going up the hill, a stone path leads to the 14-story, 1,000-room. Each day, thousands of pilgrims give the prayer wheels a clockwise spin as they make their way to the entrance.
The Jokhang Temple is the home of the statutes of the revered Buddha, Shakyamuni. While all Buddhist statues are adorned with colorful brocade, pearls, turquoise, coral, and silver, solid gold bowls of holy water rest before Shakyamuni as well as offerings of Yuan (money) and khatas (scarves) left by pilgrims.

D3 Lhasa tour
Visit Sera, Drepung, and Nechung monasteries.
Sera Monastery, one of the Six Great Monasteries of Gelug Pa, located at the foot of Hill Tatipu. It is as prestigious as Drepung and Ganden, which had a longer history. Sera in Tibetan means “Wild Rose Garden” since opulent wild rose woods once grew around it.
Drepung monastery once housed 10,000 monks and if we’re lucky, we’ll ease into a dark columned hall to see and hear the lilting, booming chanting of the sutras, or sit under a willow tree and watch the monks engage in theatrical debate.
Nechung Monastery the seat of Nechung, Tibet’s State Oracle. Major decisions of the state are made in consultation with the Nechung Oracle.

D4 Lhasa to Gyantse
We’ll depart in the morning to the first site at Yamdrok lake, which is one of the 4 holiest lakes in Tibet. After enjoying the view of the lake, descending from Kampa La (5,050 meters), stop by Karo La Glacier (4,750 meters) to visit the glacier, then head southwest to Simila pass, which is near Gyantse city. After arriving at Gyantse city, you will have your time free to rest

D5 Gyantse to Shigatse
In the morning we will visit to Palcho Monastery; then departure for Shigatse. We will visit Tashilhunpo Monasteryafter arriving in this 2nd large city of Tibet

D6 Shigatse to Shegar
Today, we will depart early, heading southwest to a road juntion where turn to due south into a narrow valley, which leads to Sakya village, in which the “Mother” monastery of Sakya Pa is located in, we will spend about 2 – 3 hours to explore the village and Sakya Monastery; then after, we will return to the main road and heading to Shegar. We will spend one night in county before heading to Mt EVerest Base Camp;

D7 Shegar to Mt Everest then to Tingri
Today, we will depart early around 5:30 am, appximately 15 kilometers from our hotel, we will make a left turn heading east towards Mt Everest. Gyawula Pass would be the best spot for view the great view of Sunrise of Mt Everest, and other 3 mountains with altitude of more than 8000 meters; including Mt Makalu (8463 meters), Mt Lotze (8516 meters), Mt Everest (8844 meters) and Mt Cho Oyo (8201 meters); once enjoying the great nature view, we will continually drive to Rongphuk Monastery, which shall be the “Terminal” for us to approaching Mt Everest; we will spend 1 -2 hours hiking around Rongphuk monastery, and then we will be on our way back; We will arrive at the small town of Tingri, esperience the ethnic culture here, overnight;

D8 Tingri to Zhangmu
This morning we will first arrive at the Lao Ting-Ri view-platform. If the weather is good, Mount Everest will be clearly visible. After enjoying the beautiful scenery of Mount Everest, we will continue our journey to the Zhangmu Valley. Along the way, we will admire the natural landscapes of the Xi-Xia Bangma Mountain. Upon reaching Zhangmu Town, we will stay at a local hotel.

D9 Zhangmu departure
Today our guide and driver will take you to the China customs, where you will bid farewell to your guide and driver; your Tibetan segment of the journey from Lhasa to Nepal will end here.
