Day 1: Arrival in Tsetang
Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, meet your local Tibetan guide and transfer to Tsetang. En route, visit Dranang Monastery and Mindrolling Monastery, two important religious centers of the Nyingma tradition.

Day 2: Tsetang Cultural Exploration
In the morning, visit the Samye Monastery, Tibet’s first monastery founded in the 8th century. In the afternoon, return to Tsetang for visits to Yongbulakang Palace, the legendary first Tibetan structure, and Trandruk Monastery, known for its ancient thangka of Tara made from pearls.

Day 3: Tsetang to Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake & Karola Glacier
Depart in the morning and drive across scenic highland terrain. Stop at the dazzling turquoise Yamdrok Lake, and descend from Gampa La Pass for panoramic views. Continue with a visit to the spectacular Karola Glacier, before reaching Gyantse.

Day 4: Gyantse to Shigatse
Begin the day by visiting the iconic Palcho Monastery and the multi-tiered Gyantse Kumbum, one of the most architecturally unique structures in Tibetan Buddhism. Continue on to Shigatse, where you’ll explore the massive Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama.

Day 5: Shigatse to Lhasa via Local Market
After breakfast, visit a local Tibetan free-market for a glimpse into regional trade and lifestyle. Then drive to Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet. Upon arrival, visit Norbulingka, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama and a beautifully preserved example of Tibetan landscaping and architecture.

Day 6: Lhasa Heritage Tour
Explore Potala Palace, a towering symbol of Tibetan Buddhism and former residence of the Dalai Lamas. Continue to Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism, and end the day with a walking pilgrimage around Barkhor Street, lined with vendors, incense, and pilgrims.

Day 7: Monastic Learning and Oracle Traditions
Today’s visits include Sera Monastery, famous for its public debates by monks, Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world, and Nechung Monastery, the official residence of the State Oracle of Tibet.

What is the altitude of the places we visit?
Tsetang is at approximately 3,500 meters, Gyantse at 3,900 meters, Shigatse at 3,800 meters, and Lhasa at 3,650 meters. Acclimatization is built into the itinerary.

Yes, all foreign travelers need a Tibet Travel Permit. We will arrange it for you, but please confirm your booking at least 30 days in advance.
