Gansu South is a 7 days trip that concentrates on the South of Gansu province. During this trip we will visit Theravada Buddhism temple of Bing Ling cave, then head south to visit Labrang monastery, Langmusi, and Zha Ga Na, a land with beautiful scenery.

Itinerary

D1 Arrive in Lanzhou

After arriving in Lanzhou airport, you’ll meet your guide at the airport. Then after, You’ll be transferred to your hotel to check in and rest.

D2 Lanzhou to Xiahe county

We’ll go from Lanzhou to Xiahe today starting with a visit to the Bing Ling Cave, which is a series of grottoes filled with Buddhist sculpture carved into natural caves and caverns in a canyon along the Yellow River. It is located north of the region where the Yellow River empties into the Liu-jia-xia Reservoir. It is approximately 100 kilometers south of Lanzhou. After visiting this site, we will drive to Xiahe, which is a Tibetan town located in the corner of northeastern Kham and eastern Amdo.

D3 Xiahe

We will visit one of the 6 Great Gelug Pa Sect monasteries – Labrang monastery, which is said to be the highest rank in Tibetan Buddhism institute in east Amdo. During the day, we’ll visit the printing-house, Gongtang Chorten among other sites. In the afternoon, we will drive to Sangke pasture, which was the site that the Tibetan hero of King Gesar fought evil. There, we’ll also visit local Tibetan tent-family or ride on a horse to experience the local nomad life.

D4 Xiahe to Langmu Si

We’ll depart from Xiahe today to head to Langmu Si. Langmu Si is a quaint and beautiful town, that is a source of the White-dragon river, and is known as the land that Padmasambhava subdued the demons in legends. It is also said to be one of the 50 most unique towns of China. En route, we will visit the National Nature Bird breeding Reserve of Ga-Hai.

D5 Langmu Si to Zha Ga Na

Zha Ga Na is located about 40 kilometers northwest of Diebu county. In tibetan, the name of this site is translated as “a box that made of stone.” Many argue that, it naturally formed a giant fortress that is known for its attractiveness. After visiting this site, we’ll; return to Langmu Si for overnight.

D6 Langmu Si to Lanzhou

While enjoying the Tibetan plateau view en route. The paved road curved along the valley descending to Lanzhou where we’ll stop to visit to Milariba Buddhist temple.

D7 Lanzhou departure

Today, your journey ends, you’ll be driven to the airport or train station for your departure
