Located in Kangding, the cultural gateway to Tibet, this hike begins just a 4-hour drive from Chengdu via the newly completed expressway—making access both quick and convenient.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu
Meet your guide at Chengdu airport or train station. Transfer to hotel and check-in. Optional afternoon visit to a traditional teahouse at People’s Park.
Overnight: Minshan Lhasa Grand Hotel

Day 2: Chengdu → Kangding
Early morning departure for Kangding (approx. 4-hour drive). Check into hotel, then prepare trekking logistics including pack animals and support crew.
Overnight: Gesar Hotel, Kangding

Day 3: Trek Day 1 – Dzonggu Village → Camp at Yarla Yartso East Slope
Drive to Dzonggu village to begin the trek. After loading baggage onto yaks, begin a 5–6 hour hike across woodlands and open terrain. Set up camp beneath Yarla Yartso, one of Tibet’s nine sacred mountains, often likened to a “white yak” in form.

Day 4: Trek Day 2 – Cross Pass → Yarla Yartso Holy Lake
Trek over a scenic mountain pass to alpine grasslands. Descend to the serene shores of Yarla Yartso Holy Lake.

Day 5: Trek Day 3 – Final Pass → Tagong (Lhagang)
Ascend to the final mountain pass, then descend to rendezvous point. Say farewell to your Tibetan support team and drive to Tagong. En route, stop at Manijiaguo village to see Kham’s largest Mani pile. Visit Lhagang Monastery in the afternoon.

Day 6: Tagong → Chengdu (via Luding Iron Bridge)
Depart for Chengdu. On the way, visit the historic Luding Iron Bridge. Upon arrival in Chengdu, check into hotel and enjoy leisure time.

Day 7: Departure from Chengdu
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
