Tibetan Wildlife Zoo is the only large-scale comprehensive wild animal park on the Tibetan Plateau, and also the popular science education base

Brief

It was opened on May 1st, 2009. It is located in the Xishan Forest Farm in Chengxi District, Xining City. covering an area of 900 hectares.

Type and number of animals

More than two hundred species and 3000 thousand animals (mostly from the original Xining Zoo) are planned to be exhibited in this zoo. Mainly exhibiting wild animals with characteristics of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Among them, national first-level protected animals include snow leopard, giant panda, Equus kiang, white-lipped deer, wild yak, black-necked crane, vulture, golden eagle, etc; national second-level protected animals include lynx, desert cat, rock sheep, blood pheasant, Tibetan pheasants, etc .; Tibetan antelope known as plateau elves, Przewalski’s gazelle, and other rare animals in the country and abroad, such as the Siberian tiger, leopard, black panther, African lion, guanaco, arabian baboon, white-browed gibbon, squirrel Monkeys, hippos, etc.

Scenic spots

In addition, visiting by vehicle and walking tours are added by Tibetan Wildlife Zoo. There are a total of 24 scenic spots in six areas including animal free-range areas, animal captive areas, animal performance areas, animal rescue and quarantine areas, science education areas, and comprehensive service areas for catering and amusement. Visitors can touch, feed the animals, and also take pictures with the animals while visiting. Of course all these activities that connecting with animal shall all be conducted by local professionals
