2017 Tibet Yak Museum Reopen

Tibet Yak Museum reopen on Apr 18th. It was closed for the yak-culture exhibition which was held in the Capital Museum in the middle of October 2016

Tibet Yak Museum covers an area of 8000 square meters and it was opened 3 years ago. There are four major exhibition halls which are Gratitude Hall, Yak Exploration Hall, Accompany Hall and Yak Hall.

The goal of building this museum is to introduce the origin and domestication of yak, and how Tibetan lives with yak, in terms of nature and science, history and humanity, as well as spirit and art.As to be a national nonprofit permanent institution, Tibet Yak Museum opens to public for free. This museum opens 6 days a week. Monday is the only day that this museum is closed. Smoking is forbidden in the all visiting areas,

Video or photography is not allowed in general, unless you have permission which is authorized by the related personal of Tibet Yak Museum

2017 Tibet Mountain Bike Race

2017 Tibet Mountain Bike Race, is also the 5th Basum Lake (Basum tso) Mountain Bike Race will be held on April 30th of 2017. This race will last 3 days, in which player will be riding along Basum Lake, a lake is located in Nyingchi county, and with altitude of over 3600 meters above sea level. A certain physical condition is required for such a high altitude bike racing.

The track is almost 100 kilometers. It begins at the entrance gate of Basum Lake, and ends at Jie-ba Village on the first day; The second day, the race will be begun from Jie-ba village and return to the finish of Basum Lake’s gate again

2017 Tibet Train schedule update

Tibet train is also called “Qinghai-Tibet railway’ or “Qing Zang Railway”. It is a high-altitude railway that connects Xining and Lhasa. The highest point of this train is at Tanggula Pass, which is about 5070 meters above sea level. The Tanggula Train station is about 5060 meters that is thought to be the highest railway station opn this planet by far. The tunnel of Feng-huo-shan is about 1338 meters long, and 4905 meters above sea level. In total, there are about 675 bridges and 550 kilometers rail is laid on permafrost.

2017 Tibet Outdoor Events

A series of Tibet Outdoor Events will be held in 2017 according to Sports Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region Authority, including football, skiing, rock climbing, cycling …etc;

With its mountainous and high-altitude natural geographical base, mountaineering is the leading outdoor activity that Tibet has inceasingly carried out in the recent years; In addition to mountaineering, the others of rock climbing, cycling, trekking, marathon, skiing, and even kayaking are planned to be held in Tibet in this year.

During this Conference, there will be a series of activities such as mass mountain-climbing and mountain-cycling.

Tibet ancient tombs found

In the autumn of 2016, Tibet ancient tombs are found by 2 of the road builders accidently when they were working at the working site in Qundo of Nyingchi district; following the discovery, the archaeologists have found 13 tombs, which are estimated to be in the period from 1,800 to 2,700 years

According to the released information that two almost complete human skeletons were found in two tombs, while there are other human bones are found in other tombs. Also some sued items are found of which includes eight complete pottery, a millstone, three bronze arrowheads…etc;

“The 13 neawly found tombs will be helpful to study Tibetan funeral customs and human development in eastern Tibet ” said one archaeologists

Mount Everest Scenic Area resumes peak-season price since April

Mount Everest Scenic Area resumes peak-season price since April 1st. The full entrance fee is 180 Chinese Yuan, approximately US$ 28 or 25 euro per person.

The road from Tingri to Rongphuk is being built to be asphalt road. The electricity has been provided in Base camp area, and one Wireless communication station has been built in this small district that provides the mobile services;

One of the best seasons for viewing mount everest is from April to May every year, however, considering the huge temperature difference in this season, it is necessary for visitors to carry enough clothes in order to avoiding potential hurt by such huge temperature difference.

Lhasa Tsetang Express way

Lhasa Tsetang Express way is under building. By far, the building of Lhasa-Tsetang Express way is been running well. This project was activated from August 26th, 2016. The length of this Express way is 47.46 kilometers with bidirectional four roadways. Its designed speed is 80 kilometers per hour. With the completion of this road, it will greatly facilitate the travel between Lhasa and Tsetang

La Long Tso westland

La Long Tso westland is a national nature reserve located in Pelyul county. It situated in the source of Za La river, which is the main tributary of Jinsha river. Its size is of nearly 3,000 hectares, and with altitude drop of 1,047 meters.

It is the first Wetland Nature Reserve of Kanze (Garze) Tibetan Prefecture, and also the largest one in Sichuan Province with the highest elevation, the biggest altitude drop, also known as habitat for the black neck crane and other Rare animals and plants.
