Gyantse Hotels is a group of recommended hotels in Gyantse city; which, located at the foot of the Himalayas, was originally called “Rgyal Rtse”, meaning “the supreme palace”, and is the third largest city in Tibetan history. In 1994, it was awarded the title of National Historic and Cultural City.
Gyantse is situated in the valley between the Himalayas and Kailash Mountain range in central and southern Tibet. It is the hub connecting West and central Tibet. The Nyangchu River, a tributary of the Yarlung Zangbo River, runs through the county. The county has a mild climate, sufficient sunshine, and abundant agricultural products. The economy is dominated by agriculture, mainly producing highland barley, peas, wheat, rape, etc. It is one of the most important grain production bases in Tibet, and is known as the “post-Tibet granary”. Tibetan blankets woven locally are very famous and have been popular for 1200 years.
