Tibetan Medicine Museum is also called as “Tibetan Culture & Medicine Museum”. It was built in 2006, and featuring of exhibiting traditional Tibetan medicine, astronomy, science, as well as traditional Tibetan life, homes and costumes. One of its massive collections is the 618 meters long Thangkar. This Giant Thangkar is thought to be the longest one in China, and display how Tibet history goes on. It took 400 artists spending over four years to complete this unbelievable work in 1997.
Tibetan Medicine Museum is the only comprehensive museum in the world that displays Tibetan medical and cultural contents. Tibetan medical culture has thousands of years of historical heritage, with rich literature, extensive content, unique in the field of medical culture. It is about 30 km from Xining airport, and 12 km from Xining train station, it is convenient to get there either by bus or by local taxi
