Kham

A good steed is like a swift bird,
A golden saddle is like its feathers,
When the bird and its feathers are together
Then the highlands are easily crossed.

Kham was one of three “provinces” of ancient Tibet which was designed to keep out eastern intruders approximately 1,500-1,200 years ago, the other two “provinces” were Amdo (currently Qinghai province), U-tsang (currently Tibet Autonomous Region)

Kham, located in the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau, is a region known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant Tibetan communities. The Kham Destinations Guide serves as a valuable resource for anyone interested in exploring this enchanting region.

Kham is also the only area of China that mountain ranges travels North to South, which is called “Heng-Duan Mountain Range.” It is called in that way, because it cuts off “connection” between eastern and western parts of China. And in those deep valleys in Kham, there are many fertile lands at bottom of gigantic cracks of earth that grow barley as well as other farm products, which produce a massive harvest annually that makes “Kham” the Granary of Tibet
